Hello. I’m a Canadian artist, living in the Southern Georgian Bay area of Ontario.
I love to paint, I’m inspired by nature and aim to capture the beauty and awe of our natural Canadian surroundings, in my work.
About me.
“I feel incredibly grateful to be able to paint my visions, explore my creativity and translate my impressions into a visual representation of a moment and feeling in time.”
I am creative.
Art, dance and music filled my childhood. I studied art in college and spent over 25 yrs in digital experience design. Creativity flows into many areas of my life.
My style is unique.
My artistic style is a modern-blend of realism and post-impressionism, with a twist of abstraction, turning natural landscapes into stories to experience.
Nature inspires me.
I am energized by nature which inspires me to capture this in my art. I push my creativity beyond my comfort, to instill the magnificence of nature’s beauty.
I value growth.
A big focus of my work is discovery and experimentation. I allow for flexibility and iterations to occur, as growth and learning are important to me.
I enjoy the process.
My approach to creating is visceral and intuitive, with a trained eye for design. Painting is as much of a journey as a destination. I may take days to weeks to complete a piece but, it’s always enjoyable.
Artist
biography.
“Elaine’s work has a unique feel, with interesting levels of abstraction within seemingly conventional landscapes.”
Seeing beauty everywhere.
The bright colours of Autumn leaves against a clear blue sky, twinkling Summer sunlight on waves, melting Spring snow still clustered on Spruce trees or splashes of Winter shadow-play across snow drifts - - all move and inspire Elaine, to capture the moments and the emotions they elicit, in her art.
Artistic beginnings.
Elaine has always been drawn to the arts.
From a very young age she drew, danced, played music and joined theatre groups. Elaine continued to pursue the arts throughout her teenage and young adult years. Taking every art course available through the school system.
Post-secondary, she attended Sheridan College for Visual Arts and Design Oakville Campus, where she explored her creativity within the classical instruction of life-drawing, photography, sculpture and painting, learning the technical principles of design and establishing the early beginnings of her artistic identity.
“My hope, is that my artwork conveys some of the heart of Canada, in each piece — showcasing both the grandeur and peacefulness of our beautiful landscapes and natural surroundings.”
Renewed passion.
In 2014, Elaine made a resolute promise to herself, to allow her artistic expression to be materialized more often. For almost 10 years now she has been painting pieces and learning and stretching as an Artist.
More recently in 2022, Elaine realized that her creative endeavors were waning and pieces were fewer and farther between than her promise years earlier. It was time to renew her passion for painting again and she dove headfirst into challenging herself to paint new pieces. Elaine hasn’t stopped painting, since!
Elaine primarily paints in Acrylic on canvas but, when inspiration strikes, is happy to try and learn new mediums -- always stretching and reaching for new adventures.
She is an avid photographer and has banked thousands of reference photos for her work. When she is not painting, she likes to camp our wonderful provincial parks, hike, canoe, visit the beach, swim and bike. During the winter months, and if the weather cooperates, downhill skiing is a favourite past-time.
Influences.
Elaine’s work is influenced by many styles and periods of art - from Canada’s own Group of Seven to French Impressionists, Renaissance, Modern, Realism and Abstract. All these styles find their way into her art and creative pieces.

She is a member of the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts (BMFA), a non-profit, community Arts organization based in Collingwood, Ontario and an Associate member of The Society of Canadian Artists (SCA).
